John Nolen was mentored by Frederick Law Olmsted Jr. at Harvard, preparing the first biography of Olmsted Sr. for his honor's thesis. The skill set Nolen learned at Harvard evolved over time. Both he and Olmsted Jr. defined a new vision of park design and city planning that they pioneered in Florida.
