About the Performer:
Kimberly Hernandez is a native of Lakeland, Florida and graduate of Florida Southern College. Most recently she made her debut with Opera Orlando in the world premiere of The Secret River as Mother Albirtha. Pre-COVID, she was living in Berlin, Germany and studying voice with American Baritone Anooshah Golesorkhi. She was recognized as a prize winner at the International Summer Academy University Mozarteum Salzburg and Audience Favorite in the Meistersinger Competition at American Institute of Musical Studies. She placed first in the Valdosta State University Concerto Competition, the John Alexander National Vocal Competition of the Mississippi Opera, Coeur d’Alene Symphony Young Artist Competition, and Madame Rose Palmai-Tenser Vocal Competition of the Mobile Opera. Kimberly has performed operatic roles such as Carmen and Savitri in the operas of the same name, Lily in Porgy and Bess, Ma Moss in The Tender Land, Miss Todd in The Old Maid and the Thief, Kate in Pirates of Penzance and Salud in La Vida Breve, Dido in the opera Dido and Aeneas. She has performed in the Polk Theatre Cabaret productions: The Music of Johnny Cash, British Invasion, and Elvis Returns.
