Walking Through History
|2-3 grade||$7/student||minimum 10||Tues-Sat||9A-4P||2HR|
Bok Tower Gardens is a National Historic Landmark with a rich history centered around Edward Bok and his creation of the Gardens and Singing Tower. This history will come alive as your students take a walk around the Gardens to explore the reasons immigrants come to this country, find examples of good citizenship and volunteerism, and explore the symbolism and meaning of the artwork on the Singing Tower. Students will get to touch samples of the different materials that make up the Singing Tower and share their family history.
The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful during the tour. I loved the stops along the way. Becky worked with me to help develop our tour so it would align with our unit. I loved that she had pulled the standards so she could align our trip with state standards as well. The children’s garden was amazing and even supported some of the ideas we teach through our IB curriculum. The parents and children really enjoyed it. I heard many say they couldn’t wait to come back. They (the students) liked being able to touch the materials used to build the tower and seeing the pictures of Mr. Bok.
