THE FIRE CHILDREN is an Authentic Creation Story from West Africa brought to life with African Songs, Djembe Drum, Thumb Piano, Body Percussion, Rap, African Dance and Story Theater. As our storyteller weaves her magic, the entire audience is invited to participate celebrating the creation of the earth and its people of many different colors. Immediately following the performance, an Open Dialogue ensues, as we collectively find ways of not only Tolerating, but Embracing our Cultural Diversity. The workshop closes with a COMMUNITY DANCE and DRUM CIRCLE.

NY Metropolitan area, Lauren Hooker is an Award Winning Vocalist/Pianist, Songwriter and Storyteller with three critically acclaimed CDs and numerous radio and television appearances to her credit. She has performed in concert at The Omega Institute, The Puffin Cultural Forum, and Cape May’s Jazz Festival to name a few, as well as numerous jazz clubs in and around the NYC Metropolitan area. As Artistic Director and Founder of her Arts in Education Company, Musical Legends, LLC, Lauren has performed, and has been commissioned by The Cathedral of St John the Divine in NYC, has performed in WBGO’s Jazz Radios Children’s Jazz Concert Series, the Newark Museum, Morris Museum, countless festivals, libraries, schools and theaters.

Multicultural and multigenerational entertainment for the entire community and beyond. Lost art of storytelling – one woman show – complete with live instrumental playing, singing, native chanting and dance. Costumes and props are creative and inspirational. YOU are part of the show.
