The Beauty of Sound
Things To Know
We invite you and your family to join us on the Sabal Stage in Hammock Hollow for a Bok Outdoor Family Adventure of music making and sound appreciation. There will be an opportunity to make a simple instrument, use rainmakers, bang a beat box and test your sound identification skills. Allow approximately 30 minutes for your little ones to complete their project and enjoy the sounds on Sabal Stage. Supplies will be available from 10am-12pm.

1. Listen together as a family to a style of music you haven’t heard before by exploring music from other cultures.
2. Go on a walk together and talk about the sounds you hear. See if you can find cicadas, crickets, Florida Frogs, and a hawk, all by the sounds they make!
3. Fill 5 empty bottles with differing amounts of water to hear the different pitches they make as you blow onto the tops of them.
Have a family discussion about the things you learned.
Ask questions about what sounds make you feel calm? What sounds make you feel happy? What sounds make you feel scared? What sounds make you feel curious? Do natural sounds make you feel differently than human-made sounds?
Ticket price includes general admission to the Gardens. Tickets are available for purchase at www.boktower.org, in person at the Visitor Center or by phone at 863-734-1222.
