Mrs. Murphy’s Chowder is a Celtic Band with many ‘Musical Ingredients,’ cooking up some Hot Jigs & Reels, Poignant Celtic Ballads and Rousing Pub Tunes. Perhaps the best ingredient is their enthusiasm for bringing the lilt and joy of Celtic music to the audience, replacing the daily concerns with music that makes you want to get up and dance. The band is composed of Sally Anderson on Hammered Dulcimer; Dick Prince on Fiddle, Octave Mandolin, Guitar, Banjo & Vocals: Doug Murray, on Tin Whistle, Irish Flute and Vocals, Donny Lomnick on Upright Bass and Guitar, and Beth Reasoner on Guitar and Vocals, with several band members lending a hand on the Bodhran.
Mrs. Murphy’s Chowder musicians have been performing music from Ireland, Scotland and the British Isles at public, private events and festivals throughout Central Florida for the last 8 years. The band members each have extensive performance backgrounds, and many are also performing with other Celtic and Old-Time bands. America has long had a love affair with Celtic music whose rhythm transforms faces with happiness of the lilt of hornpipes and jigs and makes you want to get up and dance, sing along on the Pub Songs and feel a passion for the ballads.
