Select from the items that we have collected around the Gardens to create a natural wind catcher you can take with you to enjoy at home on a breezy day. Allow approximately 20 minutes for your little ones to complete their projects. Supplies will be available from 10am-12pm.

Family Activity: Create “Wind Ribbons”
1. Find a straw, tree branch, chopstick or unsharpened pencil around your house or yard and use it as a base on which you will tie varying lengths of ribbon. Feel free to use curling ribbon or any ribbon or string you have available around your home. A picture of a completed wind ribbon can be found below.
2. After making the wind ribbon, go on a family walk and watch how the wind makes the ribbons dance.
Have a family discussion about the things you learned. Topics you can discuss include:
Which way was the wind blowing?
What is the wind?
What does the wind move?
What happens to your ribbon when the wind stops?
