Basic Fermentation with the Ferment Lady

A general overview and discussion of beginning methods of lacto fermentation (the traditional way food has been preserved for centuries, super probiotic rich and healing for digestive issues). Jillian Ross will go over the science and methods of how to properly ferment foods and beverages of all kinds. She also will discuss the tools that are used and how to source the products needed to use ferments in the home.

Jillian will bring items to show and share with the class so you can become more familiar. These include: Sauerkraut, Kimchi, Beet Kvass, Milk/Water Kefir, Kombucha, various Lacto-fermented pickles/vegetables, etc. Everyone will get to sample different items!

Wild Fermentation

Join St. Pete Ferments for a fermentation workshop: intro to wild fermentation! In this introductory class, participants will learn basic concepts of fermentation, its history, and how to make raw fermented sauerkraut at home. St. Pete Ferments will provide a tasting of our fermented food and beverages, all made locally.

The Art and Science of Home Brewing Kombucha

This 2-hour workshop will introduce you to basic philosophy and concepts behind fermentation, as well as provide you with all the basic information needed to understand and brew your own living Kombucha tea at home. This includes a Kombucha tasting exemplifying how to flavor your Kombucha. The class will be led by Joshua D. Rumschlag, master formulator and co-owner at Mother Kombucha. Kombucha kits and cultures will be available for purchase.

Crazy for Kimchi Workshop

Join Sarah Arrazola, founder of St. Pete Ferments and learn the traditional method of making kimchi. We will learn some basic fermenting methods, how to make homemade kimchi paste, and you also will take home a jar of your freshly made kimchi plus instructions for your future fermentation endeavors.
