A Moment of Repose: A Poem by Charles Santiago

Charles Santiago
Memorial bench for Kenneth O. Peters

Kenneth O. Peters, I like your spot.
With palm trees and lily pads—I like it a lot.
Oh, what PEACE I feel, right HERE–
The spot your loved ones hold so dear.

I’m glad they placed this bench for me
To sit and consider eternity.
The singing tower and reflection pond
Beckon me to fly beyond–

Beyond this world of mortality,
Enjoying a moment of repose with thee.
Thanks to Mister Edward Bok,
We have no need to mind a clock.

Beyond this world, beyond its sun,
Maybe, we’ll meet, when my days are done,
In a garden blessed with peace and love
In a garden, somewhere, beyond “above.”
