Since his arrival last October, Geert D’hollander has had his “plate” full once becoming the fourth carillonneur in the history of Bok Tower Gardens. His enthusiasm for the carillon has led him to create Harmonious Fare, a new “flavorful” concert series that pairs musical selections with themed picnic dinners during sunset atop Iron Mountain.
“The Singing Tower is a magical instrument, and its music is a great form of storytelling to inspire one’s imagination and transport you to another time and place,” says D’hollander. The final series performance theme is titled “Seafarer’s Delight” and will include selections ranging from Disney’s “The Little Mermaid” to Handel’s “Water Music.”
The setting of this concert is truly unique given the spectacular views from Iron Mountain at sunset. “We often hold after-hours carillon recitals by the light of the full moon,” says D’hollander, “but this is the first sunset concert series in recent history.”
In addition to the great location and music, we’re making this a simple and affordable date night for couples to enjoy. The Blue Palmetto Cafe is making freshly prepared picnic basket dinners for each couple to enjoy during the concert. Each basket includes two entrees, sides and desserts along with a bottle of wine and glasses. Attendees can choose from two entrees: Tuscan Tuna Wrap or Mediterranean Veggie Wrap. What do you need to bring? Bring a blanket to cozy up with and you’re job is done – it’s as simple as that!
This is the final concert of the Harmonious Fare concert series. Tickets are available until April 12 at 5 p.m. Dinner selections can be made after purchasing tickets by calling 863.734.1222 or emailing programs@boktower.org.
