The final performance of this spring’s “Live at the Gardens” concert series features classical guitarist Robert Phillips whose music will transport you to a sunny street in Spain.
This award-winning performer plays music by some of Spain’s best loved and most performed composers, including Isaac Albéniz, Enrique Granados, and Francisco Tárrega, as well as sultry rhythms from Latin American composers like Heitor Villa-Lobos.
We won’t always shower you with an artist’s accolades, but sometimes (like now) it’s more appropriate to let others do the talking for us.
Guitar Extra calls Phillips “…a dynamic performer who breathes life into the music he approaches…Phillips exploits the music’s physical vigor with virtuosic playing and a perfect sense of timing.”
Of a past guest performance with the Imperial Symphony Orchestra, The Ledger wrote “Robert Phillips was the high point of the symphonic soiree… [He] seemed to resonate intimately with the composition’s spirit.”

Phillips holds a doctorate in music from the University of Miami and is respected internationally as a scholar, educator and performer.
The April 13 concert begins at 7:30 p.m. inside the Gardens’ Visitor Center with general admission seating. Tickets are just $25, which also includes full-day admission.
